We live in a world that has pain, and that pain has to be guarded by men and women with conscience. Who’s gonna do that? As Christians, we have a greater responsibility than we could possibly fathom. We weep for ourselves, and we curse our enemies. We think we have that luxury. We only have the luxury of knowing what God knows. That our Savior's death, while tragic, definitely saves lives. And his existence, while omnipresent to some and incomprehensible to many, saves lives. Now many unsaved say they don’t want the truth but deep down in places they don’t talk about at parties, they want you and me praying away their pain, they need us praying away that pain.
As saved, we use words like forgiveness, cleanse, rise again. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending Christianity. Others use them as a punch line. As saved, we must make both the time and the inclination to explain salvation to those men who rise and sleep under the blanket of sin and question the very freedom that our God provides, and then question the manner in which HE provides it.
We would all rather they just said thank you, and went on their way. But may I suggest we pick up our bright light and stand a post. Either way, we must give Jesus the reverence HE is well entitled to.
