There are 10 commandments in the Bible. Not one addresses Labor Day. Aren't 10 enough? I think we would all be so much happier if we learned to keep it simple. Relax, pull back some, cut our lives some slack! Cut one another some slack. Stay in our lane. Mind our own business. Keep the finger pointed at ourselves not others. Let people around us breath. Stop drawing so many lines in the sand. Become a bridge of new ideas. Invite people in rather than shutting out those who are different from us. Grow, stretch, enlighten our spirit through open eyes and invitational hearts.
Being wound tight creates stress and unhappiness all around. It makes us shorter not taller in God's eyes.
As for me, I do not want to lose a single day of my happiness. Life is so short. All around us is a constant reminder of our mortality and how short life is for all of us.
My son recently said, "Mom can a brother get simple mac and cheese sometimes?" When I asked what he meant he said, "You often go way over the top in the kitchen. You cook gourmet and put everything in the fridge into everything. Sometimes I would just like to enjoy simple mac and cheese."
Life is like that, simple mac and cheese can make the soul completely satisfied. When we try to stuff too much into everything we do then love gets lost, happiness is stifled, and hearts get stuck.
Let's STOP making it so hard for people to just be themselves.
I am on the look out today for a few others out there wearing their white after Labor Day. No strings attached. Pardon mine if it has a bit of mac and cheese staining.
