Today you may have shared the elevator with someone afraid to go home tonight and more afraid not to. Home is loud and frightening with many nights filled with thrown objects and bruisings. It was just the way you got onto and off of that elevator standing so tall and confident. You may have lit a small spark in her as she remembers a time when she too stood tall and unashamed. Today your sunglasses say cool and ready for anything. Hers say sorry and I won't tell anybody. Yeh seeing you may have been her tipping point. Tonight she will do it. She will leave him.
Today you might hold the door open for someone who opens the door to a piece of your future. The door you hold may let in your future spouse, best friend, boss, business partner, chaplain, teacher, life coach, workout buddy, or neighbor. You are racing so fast to get somewhere but today you hesitate for just a few extra moments. They are rushing toward the closing door and you say, it is okay, I will hold it, take your time.
