Definition of 'Inflection Point'
An event that results in a significant change in the progress of a company, industry, sector, economy or geopolitical situation. An inflection point can be considered a turning point after which a dramatic change, with either positive or negative results, is expected to result. Inflection points are more significant than the small day-to-day progress that is made and the effects of the change are often well-known and widespread.

The first time you went to bed mad at one another and neither of you really cared. You used to care a lot, even promised you would never do that to each other. The first time you lied to your parents, not the small white lie kind but more the dang I wish I could take that back sort of kind. The time you embellished so much to make yourself look better. It worked so well you adopted it as just those little things you do sometimes, not a big deal, no one was harmed kind of thing.

All of these were inflection points. The point that you redefined your virtuous progress. You lowered your moral bar. You reset the scale of your value system. At each of these moments you rewrote your principal code.

And you thought it did not matter and that very thought was in itself an inflection point. Because it does matter. You are leaving inflection points as footprints in the sand. And the changes they make be them good or bad are indeed well-known and widespread. Inflection points become so much a part of you that only 180 degree turning points, connected to the very fabric of your spirit will undo them.

Take the honor student who wrote a formula on her arm. She went in to take the test. She never used the formula. Never needed to. Or the young man who married the woman of his dreams never telling her he could not have children. She never asked he told himself. Turns out 7 years into their marriage she learns she is infertile. He remains silent. And there is the wife who for years has been stowing away money in "her" secret rainy day account. She watches her husband work himself sick to pay the household bills, until one day he works himself to death.

Inflection points. They are more significant than the small day-to-day progress that is made and the effects of the change are often well-known and widespread inside of us.

I love being around people. I would rather live falling than break my spirit never trying anything hard. This blog is about trying and retrying life.
