I put the kids before my husband and all I have left is this T-shirt.

The kids appear happy even gitty. Mom realizes it has become much easier to spend time with the kids than invest time with her husband. Time with spouse takes time, even takes planning and effort. It is easy to please the kids, they are just happy to be with mommy doing almost anything as long as everyone is together. Spouse, well that is a horse of a different story. The biggest challenge with hubby is finding time just for the two of you. What about the kids, can't leave them out right? So it goes, and so it goes. And then little by little, like a  slow rising wall mom has great memories and many MOM OF THE YEAR T-SHIRTS from the kids. She also owns a wall she slowly built between she and her husband. The kids soon prepare to leave the home. They pretend not to see the wall.

Kids are gone. Mom often sleeps in her now ratty MOM OF THE YEAR T-SHIRTS and her flannel pajama bottoms. The wall between them holds all the other T-SHIRTS too many to count over the years.

One day, now wife decides to climb that wall and peek over to the other side. What she sees stops her in her tracks. Husband is alone in the basement, remote in one hand, pizza box in the other wearing his SHE PUT THE KIDS BEFORE ME AND ALL WE HAVE LEFT ARE THOSE KIDS.

This so true ! It definitely requires a concerted effort to maintain that balance. So is you next blog about how to tear the wall ?
