Is it harder to imagine he is so much of these qualities that he single-handedly wrote the best script ever written, no shared credits, no bi-lines? That script was your life with you , playing you in the leading role. Now you might be thinking that would be one short story, a real anti-climatic piece of cinematography. Well before you over commit to that lackluster viewpoint, read this excerpt from an interview given by 2012 Nicholl award-winning screenwriter Allan Durand to fellow blogger Scott Myers.
He starts off by saying Mary Magdalene, a prostitute is the most mentioned woman in the bible. Yes more mentions than Mary, the mother of Jesus, herself. She is written into God's first script, alas the Bible because our God purposely placed her there, it was his design.
Allan: For example, one of my favorite ones (scripts in his mind) is one titled, “Mary Magdalene.” I was sitting in church one day listening to this really boring priest, preaching a sermon about…I don’t know what it was. I’m daydreaming, and I hear him say that, “You’ve got to realize, the name of Mary Magdalene appeared more in all four versions of the Gospel than the name of Mary, mother of Jesus.” I caught that and I said, “What?” Wait a minute.” I started going through the Gospels. It turned out to be correct.
I read the Gospel of St. John. I see the most important event in Christianity is the resurrection from the dead. Who’s the first at the tomb on Easter Sunday morning to discover Jesus has risen from the dead but Mary Magdalene.
I started thinking, now, if you bring in the two billion people in the world who think Jesus was God. You’ve got two choices. You can say, at the most important event of Christianity, God said, whoever shows up first, shows up first. It’s not a big deal. Or he could use that as a teaching moment and place there who he wanted to be there for a very, very important reason.
Then, I said, now, why was that? Why was this woman, who you never would have heard of if she had not showed up at the tomb first on Easter morning. Because the spin doctors, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John would have left her ass so far out of story, you wouldn’t have even got a whiff of her. They only got the prostitutes hanging around Jesus in the story because there was no way they could have left her out.http://gointothestory.blcklst.com/2013/01/interview-allan-durand-2012-nicholl-winner-part-5.html
So back to you. If God wrote Mary Magdalene into HIS story so magnificently, just what might HE have in store for you and your less than perfect life?
Embrace your script and change its ending. God's easy about stuff like that. As long as you give him the credit!
