I have lived my whole life desperate to attach my beliefs to real things. My struggle has never been about my willingness to surrender.That is the easier part. My struggle has stemmed from identifying among all the muck and mire what is real and what is not. Imagine spending your entire life attached to ideologies and paradigms that only exist because you made a conscience decision to give them value. Without your attachment, they would be little more than wayward concepts lost among a sea of abstract energy with no discernible matter. Without your purposeful interference these would barely register in the conscious mind. The bible scriptures, some might argue, fit this idea of abstracts of floating mass taking on tangible form and magnetism because believers have attached themselves to its BOOKS through their faith. I think of this as blind faith because in as far as I know, no one I know was present in the crafting of the bible or its scriptures. It is merely my attachment that makes it real to me.
Next to ponder that if I am wrong about anything I have attached myself to and it turns out to be unreal, what a mighty unraveling of beliefs I struggled a lifetime to make real for me. This is where my faith comes in.
The Bible teaches that the object of faith (who or what is believed in) is God and His Son Jesus Christ. There are many persons, places and things that we could put our faith in during our lifetime, but we must prioritize our life, and put our faith in God and Jesus Christ above all else. Jesus said: "Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me" (John 14:1). We are not to put our faith in that which is false (Matthew 24:23,26). Unless our faith is in God and His Son, we do not have the right kind of faith.
